The Southeast Missouri State softball team fell to .500 in Ohio Valley Conference play as SIU Edwardsville rallied for a 5-3 victory Sunday to complete a three-game weekend sweep in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Southeast (11-17 overall, 5-5 OVC) took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, where the Cougars struck for four runs. Alyssa Haren belted a two-run home run in the inning for SIUE (12-6, 6-4), which also received RBI singles from Tess Eby and Rachel Keller. The Cougars added an insurance run in the sixth.

Southeast had taken the lead on a RBI single by Darby Pruett in the fourth inning, and Riley Hayes upped the lead to 3-0 with a two-run, two-out home run in the fifth.

SIUE outhit Southeast 9-6.

Claire Wernig had two hits for the Redhawks.

Baylee Douglass (7-6) pitched a complete game for SIUE, striking out four and walking three.

Madeline Krumrey (5-6) took the loss, allowing eight hits over 4 1/3 innings. She walked one and struck out one.

Southeast will host Arkansas in a doubleheader at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
