Southeast Missouri State baseball player Shae Simmons has received his second major honor in the past few weeks.

Simmons, a Scott City native, was among 12 relief pitchers named to the Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team Wednesday.

That came on the heels of Simmons being named the Ohio Valley Conference freshman of the year last month.

Simmons, the all-OVC first-team reliever, went 3-3 with five saves and a 3.20 ERA this year. He had 43 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings spanning 25 appearances.
