BENTON -- Scott Simion held off Shawn King and Jerrod Hull to take home the biggest payday of his career with a victory in the Winged Sprint competition Saturday at Missouri International Racepark.
The victory was worth $3,000 for Simion, of Christopher, Ill., and was his first since returning to Winged Sprint competition after a two-year absence.
Eric Harris made it a two-for-two night in Pure Street. Harris won a make-up feature and the regular Pure Street feature.
Terry Johnson, of Benton, won the Modified feature despite running the final lap with a flat right rear tire. Randy Stahley, of Cape Girardeau, made his return after a two-week absence and finished second. Steve Zelch Jr., Kent Bailey and Johnny Wyatt rounded out the top five.
Greg King finished ahead of Greg Gross in Super Street action to pick up the win.
Harris held off Cline Myers Jr. and Keith Brugger to pick up the make-up feature win. The race was initially scheduled for June 25 but canceled due to rain.
Brugger led the first 11 laps of the second Pure Feature, but spun out and Harris inherited the lead. Myers Jr. and Joey Mack both chased Harris but neither driver could make a pass and finished second and third, respectively.
Greg King claimed top honors in Super Street. Greg Gross led early in the race but couldn't hold off King. Larry Hull, Robert Smith and Stephen Worley rounded out the top five.
