SIKESTON -- Sikeston won the championship of the Chaffee American Legion VFW baseball tournament by rallying past Fenton 4-2 Sunday afternoon.

Sikeston finished the tournament with a 4-0 record.

Fenton led 2-0 when Sikeston scored four times in the sixth inning, the big blow being a three-run homer by Josh West.

Earlier Sunday, in the loser's bracket final, Fenton routed Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons 17-1, relegating Cape to third place in the tournament.

Due to Central High graduation ceremonies Sunday, Ford & Sons used a depleted squad that featured several players from Cape's Junior Legion team.

Late Saturday night, Fenton eliminated host Chaffee 11-4.

Chaffee Jr. Legion splits

Chaffee's Junior American Legion squad suffered its first loss Sunday by splitting a doubleheader at Ballard County, Ky.

Chaffee (5-1) won the opener 12-4 but lost the nightcap 10-7.

Travis Hanback was the winning pitcher in the first game. Brian Obermann led the offense with four hits while Matt Stroup had three. Brad Kolwyck, Adam Seyer and Travis Hanback all added two.

Lance Dohogne suffered the loss in the nightcap. John O'Rourke had three hits while Chris Henley and Jacob Ressel both added two.

Chaffee will host Perryville Tuesday in a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
