ST. CHARLES, Mo. — The Sikeston baseball team's struggles continued with a pair of losses during the Midwest Classic Tournament at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles, Missouri on Monday, March 27.

The Bulldogs (1-4) lost the first game of the day 16-1 against Francis Howell (5-1).

Phillip Johnson took the loss after starting the game and throwing the first four innings. He allowed seven runs on seven hits with a strikeout and four walked batter.

Heath Poindexter pitched one inning and allowed three earned runs on six hits with one walk.

Carter Goodman threw the final inning. He didn’t allow any earned runs or hits and had one strikeout with two walked batters.

The Bulldogs had five total hits by Carter Crowe, Jacob Levitt, Rush Ault and Conner Wallace. Crowe was the only player with multiple hits.

Sikeston scored its lone run in the bottom of the third inning when Crow stole home base.

In the second game of the day, the Bulldogs lost 14-7 to Fort Zumwalt South (3-0).

Rush Ault took the loss on the mound. He allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits with two walked batters. Noah Pruitt also pitched, throwing the final four innings. He didn’t allow any earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks.

Sikeston had nine total hits and was led by Crowe for the second consecutive game. He finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Trace Sullivan was the only other Bulldogs with multiple hits. Sullivan finished 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Sikeston will travel to New Madrid County Central (1-) on Monday, April 3 and host Poplar Bluff (2-4) on Tuesday, April 4.
