JACKSON -- Sikeston wrapped up the SEMO Conference baseball title Thursday by knocking off Jackson 13-7 at Legion Field in Jackson.

Lance Limbaugh suffered the loss for Jackson. He went two innings and gave up eight runs on 10 hits and one walk.

Sikeston (7-2, 6-0 SEMO Conference) put on an offensive display, banging out 18 hits.

Rickey Fodge was Sikeston's winning pitcher. He went 3 2/3 and gave up three runs, two earned, on two hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

Jackson (5-6, 1-3) managed just four hits -- two by Brad Berry -- but took advantage of nine walks and two hit batsmen. Ricky Renfroe had an RBI double for Jackson and Bryan Austin scored two runs.

Craig Jobe had a huge day for Sikeston, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.

Jackson found itself down 8-1 after three innings and eventually cut the lead to 10-7 before Sikeston pulled away.

Chaffee 7, Dexter 3

CHAFFEE -- Chaffee improved to 9-3 and made it to its weekend tournament with fresh arms after G.P. Glueck and Matt Stroup disposed of the Bearcats.

Glueck started and went 4 1/3 innings for the win. He allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks. He struck out two.

Stroup threw 2 1/3 innings and allowed one hit and two walks while striking out four.

Tommy Stidham and Zac Horman each had two hits for the Red Devils. Horman had two RBIs and Stidham had one.

"I thought we played pretty well," said Chaffee coach Brian Horrell. "With our tournament coming up, we just hoped to get through it and play well enough to win it and we did."

Portageville 13, Scott City 8

PORTAGEVILLE -- Scott City saw a 7-1 lead evaporate as Portageville scored five runs in the fifth inning and seven in the sixth to rally for the victory.

The Rams (3-4) had 10 hits. Jordan Comer had two hits and four RBIs while stealing two bases while Jacob Ressel had two hits and scored four runs.

Carl Lange was the losing pitcher as he allowed five runs in just one inning. Starter Jerod Schenimann gave up four hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Woodland 4, Bell City 0

MARBLE HILL -- Paul Long pitched a gem to pace Woodland.

Long hurled a complete-game two-hitter that featured six strikeouts and no walks.

Woodland (4-2) had 10 hits, with Danny Lincoln, Jeremy McCain and Joey Grippo all getting two. Lincoln homered and had two RBIs while Jason Greer added two RBIs.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cape Central 6, Marion 1

Amber Voerg had a game to remember.

The Cape Central junior played just 20 minutes but scored four goals as the Lady Tigers rolled to an easy win and improved to 7-2-1.

Voerg scored the first three goals of the game, the first two coming off assists from Lori Bittle and the third coming from Jessica Ham.

At the 27-minute mark, Tricia Klipfel scored on an assist from Carrie Elle. Seven minutes later, Voerg scored on an assist from her sister, Ashley, to give the Lady Tigers a 5-0 halftime lead.

Alison Eaton scored an unassisted goal in the second half to put Central up 6-0.

"We're trying to improve and get a little better with our ball control," said Central coach Tom Doyle. "These games that turn out to be relatively easy, we can use as training for the rest of the year."

Jackson 1, Notre Dame 0

JACKSON -- McKenzie Turley scored an unassisted goal with about eight minutes remaining to lift Jackson past Notre Dame.

Goalkeeper Whitney Werner recorded the shutout for the Lady Indians, who claimed their fourth straight victory and improved to 6-3-2. Notre Dame fell to 4-9.

"It was a good game," said Jackson coach Bonnie Knowlan. "I felt like we could have played a little better in the first half, but we played well in the second half. And I thought Notre Dame played well."

The JV game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Perryville 4, St. Vincent 0

PERRVYILLE -- Britney Weibrecht scored two goals to lead Perryville past St. Vincent.

Stacy Baer and Jenna Schuessler also scored goals for the Lady Pirates, now 7-2-1.

St. Vincent dropped to 2-3.

BOYS GOLF

Jackson 155, Sikeston 157

JACKSON -- The Indians improved their record to 10-0 in dual matches with a close win over Sikeston, which won the Poplar Bluff Tournament earlier this week.

Peyton Sims of Jackson and Sikeston's Ryan Griggs shot 37s for medalist honors.

Matt Litzelfelner shot a 38 for Jackson, while Chris Pike and Kyle Perry rounded out the top four with 40s.

Tanner Fritz shot a 39 for Sikeston, followed by Brandon De Witt with 40 and Rex Way with 41.

Jackson's JV won 165-171.

Notre Dame wins tri-meet

NEW MADRID -- Notre Dame won a triangular meet hosted by New Madrid County Central as the Bulldogs posted a 167 score.

Cape Central was second with a 169 while the host squad followed with 175.

Notre Dame's Nick Martin was the individual medalist with a 38. Other scores for the Bulldogs were Derek Welter 41, Tim Buerck 44 and Lucas Klein 44.

Drew Christian led Cape Central with a 39. He was followed by Dusty York 42, Josh Miller 44 and Luke Oliver 44.

New Madrid was paced by Billy Scobey's 40.

SOFTBALL

Leopold 21, Richland 0

LEOPOLD -- Melinda Trankle threw a three-inning no-hitter as Leopold romped.

Trankle fanned one and walked two.

The Lady Wildcats (6-2) had just seven hits nobody had more than one as they took advantage of numerous walks and errors. Becky Seiler drove in three runs while Amanda Dunn added two RBIs.

BOYS TENNIS

Cape Central 6, Poplar Bluff 3

POPLAR BLUFF -- The Tigers went to 6-3 on the season by winning four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

The Cape Central junior varsity improved to 9-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory.
