CHARLESTON -- Charleston High senior Rashad Oliver will take his considerable basketball talents to the junior college ranks next season.

A 6-2 senior forward who has been a three-time Class 3A all-state performer, Oliver recently signed with SMS-West Plains. The school is coached by Tom Barr, a former assistant coach at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff.

"They have a good program going there and I think it's a good place for Rashad," said Charleston assistant coach Danny Farmer. "I think he'll help them out quite a bit."

Oliver, who helped lead the Blue Jays to the state title as a junior, averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior, when he shot 53 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free-throw line.

Oliver earned second-team all-state honors as a sophomore before making the first team the past two seasons.

"Being a three-year all-stater, as far as talent and experience, I think they've gotten a really good one," said Farmer.
