Scott City's Brandon Shemonia had two individual wins to help the Rams to victory Thursday in the 11-team Chaffee Invitational. Shemonia had a winning time of 4 minutes, 41 seconds in the 1,600 meters and won the 3,200 in 10:42. The Rams, who finished 30 points ahead of runner-up Malden, also won the 800 relay in 1:36.83...

Scott City's Brandon Shemonia had two individual wins to help the Rams to victory Thursday in the 11-team Chaffee Invitational.

Shemonia had a winning time of 4 minutes, 41 seconds in the 1,600 meters and won the 3,200 in 10:42.

The Rams, who finished 30 points ahead of runner-up Malden, also won the 800 relay in 1:36.83.

Chaffee placed fourth overall with 63 points. The Red Devils had a first-place finish by Jordan Yahn in the 800 (2:12) and also won the 3,200 relay.

Saxony Lutheran, which finished fifth, received a first-place finish by Jeremy Englehart in the 110 hurdles (17.18) and placed first in the 1,600 relay.

Jeff Long hit a two-run homer and went 2 for 3 with three RBIs in a road win for the Cubs (7-6).

Long also picked up the win on the mound with four strikeouts in four innings.

Eddie Dembowski went 4 for 5 with four RBIs, while Josh Overbey and Tim Long each went 2 for 5.

For Advance, Darren VanGennip connected for two doubles and went 3 for 5.
