Seven new members were recently inducted into the Notre Dame High School Sports Hall of Fame.

The inductees, who were welcomed along with previous inductees during the final boys basketball game of the regular season on Feb. 6, are Mark Beussink, Bill Bohnert, Danny Dohogne, Wayne Nenninger, Ronnie Ressel, Kim (Cooper) Hunter and Jerry Grim.

Beussink, a 1975 Notre Dame graduate, was a basketball, baseball and track standout for the Bulldogs. He averaged 18 points per game in basketball in leading the Bulldogs to a two-year record of 42-8, went on to play baseball at Southeast Missouri State University and finished fourth in the 440-yard run at the state track meet.

Bohnert, a 1960 Notre Dame graduate, starred in basketball, baseball and track. As a senior, Bohnert helped lead the basketball team to a third-place state finish. He played semi-pro baseball for 18 years and has coached local baseball at various levels for 30 years, including the past 20 years with the Cape Girardeau American Legion squad.

Dohogne, a 1987 Notre Dame graduate, helped lead the basketball Bulldogs to state titles in 1986 and 1987. An all-state forward, he holds a host of school records and went on to a two-year standout career at Southeast Missouri State. In addition, Dohogne was a member of three Bulldog baseball teams that made the state tournament.

Nenninger, a 1964 Notre Dame graduate, participated in basketball and track. He has taught and coached at his alma mater since 1970, coaching several sports on various levels. He helped start the school's boys soccer program in 1985 and helped reestablish the cross country program in 1993 as he continues to coach that sport.

Ressel, a 1987 Notre Dame graduate, teamed with Dohogne to help lead the Bulldogs' state title teams in 1986 and 1987. The all-state point guard set numerous school records and he holds state records for assists in a season (358) and game (19), the latter set during the state championship contest.

A member of the 1984 state championship baseball team and also three other Bulldog baseball squads that made it to state. Ressel was a collegiate basketball star at Missouri Southern and he is now the head women's basketball coach at Rend Lake Junior College in Illinois.

Hunter, a 1988 Notre Dame graduate, starred in basketball and softball for the Lady Bulldogs. She holds numerous school basketball records and is the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,297 points. She went on to a standout college basketball career at Missouri-St. Louis and is now the girls basketball coach at New Haven (Mo.) High School.

Grim is in his 24th year as a Notre Dame teacher and coach. In his 18th season as the school's girls basketball coach, Grim has guided the Lady Bulldogs to 316 wins and two trips to the state championship game. He also started the Notre Dame softball program in 1976 and coached that sport for 23 years.

Previous inductees to the Notre Dame Hall of Fame were Tony Rubich, Bob Miller, Ken Haas, Greg Flaker, Fred Meystedt, Ed Arnzen, Dawson Pikey and Jim Glastetter.
