MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Jennifer Dippel hurled a masterpiece for Southeast Missouri State University's softball team Sunday as the Otahkians knocked off host Morehead State 2-0.
Dippel, who improved to 7-4, pitched all seven innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four and walking three.
The Otahkians, who won two out of three games in the weekend series, improved to 23-22 overall and 13-7 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Southeast has won 12 of its last 17 games overall and 10 of its last 14 OVC contests.
Southeast has now also won 28 of the 31 games played in the all-time series against Morehead State.
Morehead State fell to 17-31 overall, 7-13 in the league.
Southeast, which had just six hits off losing hurler Pam Crawford (8-12), scored the only runs it would need in the fourth inning.
After the first two batters were retired in the fourth, Renee Enos and Emmy Kisaka both singled. Courtney Eklund then doubled to center, driving in pinch-runner Jonelle Rietman and Kisaka.
Eklund's double was the only extra-base hit of the contest.
The Lady Eagles had only one player advance as far as third base against Dippel in the entire game, that coming in the sixth when they had runners at second and third with two outs.
The Otahkians will return to action Tuesday when Tennessee-Martin visits the Southeast Softball Complex for a 4 p.m. OVC twin bill.
