ST. LOUIS -- Southeast Missouri State University's men's golf squad finished third in the 17-team St. Louis Intercollegiate that concluded Monday.

The Indians had a 54-hole total of 943. Missouri-Kansas City (919) was first and Marquette (937) second.

Ryan Florek was Southeast's top finisher as he placed seventh with a score of 232.

Also for the Indians, Shawn Edgar was 11th (235), Derek Rahlmann tied for 12th (236), Matt Clabaugh tied for 20th (241) and Jason Owens tied for 53rd (250).

Southeast returns to action Friday in the Bradley Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ill.

Palmer player of week

Kim Palmer has been named the Ohio Valley Conference softball player of the week.

Palmer had a huge weekend for the Otahkians, going 7-for-8 with nine RBIs and four runs scored. The outfielder had a grand slam and two doubles as the Otahkians moved into second place in the OVC standings.

Signing period starts today

Southeast's men's and women's basketball teams are both expected to sign players today as the national letter of intent period begins.

The Indians are expected to sign as many as three players while the Otahkians figure to sign at least one player during the first day of the late signing period.

Southeast's men landed one player during the early signing period as Cape Girardeau Central High guard Nathan Owen committed to the Indians.

Baseball game canceled

Southeast's scheduled Tuesday night baseball game against Missouri in Columbia was canceled due to inclement weather.

The Indians, coming off a three-game sweep of Eastern Illinois over the weekend, are scheduled to play at St. Louis tonight (6 o'clock).

Southeast (11-18 overall, 6-6 OVC) will resume league play this weekend as Austin Peay comes to Cape Girardeau for a key three-game series. The teams will have a 4 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a 1 p.m. single game Sunday.

Baseball tailgates set

The Southeast Athletic Booster Club will host two baseball tailgates during April.

Kohlfeld Distributing will sponsor the first tailgate this Saturday when the Indians host Austin Peay in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.

The second tailgate will be sponsored by River Eagle Distributing on Wednesday, April 30, when Southeast hosts Missouri.
