The SEMO North 14-year-old Babe Ruth baseball team stayed alive in the double-elimination Babe Ruth state tournament Saturday with a 7-2 victory against Union (Mo.).
Landon Johnson allowed three hits in a complete-game performance. He struck out 12, walked two and allowed two earned runs.
Evan Grindstaff and Johnson each had two hits. Grindstaff scored three runs, while Johnson had three RBIs. Tyler Golden added two RBIs.
SEMO North fell into the losers bracket with an 8-4 loss to host Boonville (Mo.) on Friday.
Jake Perkins had two hits, while Ben McCormick had two RBIs.
Tyler Rogers took the loss on the mound.
SEMO North continues play today.
The Missouri Bulls improved to 2-1 in pool play at the Diamond Sports Promotions World Series on Saturday with a 5-1 victory against the Southside Sluggers in Bloomington, Ill.
Brady Wright collected the win with a complete game for the Bulls. He allowed one run, three hits and three walks.
Adam Grantham and Tyler Heuring finished with three hits apiece, while Andy Lack had two hits.
The top eight teams in the 40-team tournament advance to today's bracket play.
The Bulls split their first two tournament games Friday, defeating the Illinois Bandits 3-1 and losing to the Illinois Royals 3-1.
Jordan Anderson collected a complete-game victory against the Bandits, striking out five. He allowed 10 hits, four runs and three walks.
Andy Lack, Kyle Campbell and Trent McMillian finished the game with two hits apiece.
Cody Heisserer took the loss against the Royals, allowing three runs and five hits in six innings.
James Naile and Heuring both had two hits.
