Nyah Jones, a 6-foot-11 center from Meridian (Miss.) Community College, signed a scholarship Thursday to play basketball at Southeast Missouri State University.

Jones signed with the University of Missouri during the early signing period, but asked for a release from his commitment and it was granted.

"Nyah Jones is an impressive big man who will certainly help our program," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "He is a good shooter and has excellent size. With Jones and Brian Bunche, we should have talent and depth at the five position."

Originally from Montreal, Jones averaged seven points and four rebounds per game last season at Meridian when the Eagles placed fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament.
