Southeast Missouri State University's men's basketball program increased its number of new recruits to five Monday as two more letters of intent were received.
A pair of players who competed for highly-successful junior-college programs will be joining the Indians for the 1997-98 season.
Dewayne Saulsberry, a 6-foot, 180-pound guard, averaged 18 points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals per game this year for St. Catherine (Ky.) Junior College, helping lead that squad to the national juco tournament.
Saulsberry, who shot 48-percent from 3-point range, earned all-conference honors. He played high school basketball at Muehlenberg North in Central City, Ky.
Johnny Cobb, a 6-8, 230-pound forward, averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game this year for Hutchinson (Kan.) Junior College, helping lead the perennial juco power to the national tourney. Cobb is originally from Newport News, Va.
Signing last week were two other junior-college players, 6-4 forward Demetrius Watson of Mineral Area in Park Hills and 6-foot guard Cory Johnson of Three Rivers in Poplar Bluff.
All the juco recruits will have two years of eligibility at Southeast.
Also previously committing to Southeast, during the early signing period, was 6-2 guard Nathan Owen, a senior at Cape Central High School.
