Several track athletes from Southeast Missouri State University will compete in the world famous Drake Relays Friday and Saturday.
Southeast entries selected to compete at the 35th annual Drake Relays include Heather Keltner in the invitational 400-meters, Lutricia Purham in the shot put, Becky Shull in the javelin and Natalie Talley in the 100-meters. Southeast will also have entries in the women's 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
Keltner, five-time Ohio Valley Conference 400-meter champion (three indoors, two outdoors), has a seasonal best time of 54.39 seconds and a personal record time of 53.68. She will also lead off the two relay teams.
Purham, three-time OVC shot put champion, has the best throw in the OVC this season at 50 feet 7 inches. Last year she finished 15th in the NCAA Championships and ranked 35th in the United States with a personal record throw of 50-9 1/4.
Shull is the defending javelin champion in the OVC and she has the best throw in the league this spring at 130-5. Shull, a senior who has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, has a personal best of 133-5.
Talley is an alternate in the 100-meters at Drake and will not know until Friday whether or not she will be in the field. She has a personal best of 11.97.
The Southeast 4x100 relay has timed 46.22 this season with a team of Keltner, Shauna BIrge, Kim Stewart and Talley. The 4x200 squad of Keltner, Birge, Hannah Stuckenschneider and Talley has an OVC best of 1:35.15 this year.
Southeast's men's track team and the remainder of the women's squad will compete in an open meet at Missouri-Kansas City Saturday.
