COLUMBIA -- The Southeast Otahkians indoor track team opened the season with an impressive performance Tuesday at Missouri in a non-scored triangular meet.

The Otahkians claimed seven first-place finishes, with Yvonne Hente claiming title in the 200- and 400-meter runs. Jon Riley was the only winner for the Southeast men, claiming the long jump with a leap of 24-10. Teammate Eugene Staten took second.

Other Otahkian winners were: Natalie Talley (55-meter dash), Heather Kelter (600-meters), Tammy Wenkel (800-meters) and Lutricia Puritam (shot put). The Otahkians also won the 1,600-meter relay.

The Southeast women dominated the sprints, with Hente leading a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 followed by Kim Stewart and Talley. In the 600, Kelter was followed by teammates Estelle McHargue and Candy Parker.

Jennifer Phillips, of Southeast, finished second behind Puritam in the shot put.

For the men, Jimmy Fox placed second in the pole vault and Ryan Steck took second in the 55-meters.
