Southeast Missouri State University announced the signing of five athletes for the upcoming fall season.
Perryville High graduate Tyson Brown and Ste. Genevieve's Chris Donze highlight the list, which also includes sprinters Jason Campbell (Summit of St. Louis) and Jarod Rybacki (Nashville, Ill.) and shot/discus thrower Brandon Myer (Broken Bow, Neb.).
"We were able to fill the needs we had," said Southeast track coach Joey Haines. "With this group, we should be able to be back in a contending position for the Ohio Valley Conference
Brown placed second in the 800 meters at the Class 3A state meet and has run personal-best times of 1:56.54 in the 800 and 4:29.5 in the mile.
Donze won district and sectional titles in both the 100 and 200 meters, but was injured prior to the finals of the state championships. He's run a 10.5 100 meters and long jumped 22-9.
Standing 6-foot-9-inches and weighing 295 pounds, Haines liked the look of Myer.
"We feel he has the potential to become one of the best throwers we've ever had at Southeast," said Haines.
