CHAFFEE -- The scores were unsightly in first-round play in the Scott-Mississippi Conference girls basketball tournament.

In Monday's first game, No. 4 Delta beat No. 5 Chaffee 40-24. Then things got really ugly.

Third-seeded Scott County Central hammered No. 6 Oran 86-29 in the second game. Then, No. 2 Kelly destroyed No. 7 East Prairie 90-15.

On Wednesday, top-seeded Scott City, which received a first-round bye, will play Delta in a semifinal game at 9 p.m. Scott County Central will face Kelly in the other semifinal game at 6.

In the Delta-Chaffee game, Delta took a 12-2 first-quarter lead and held a 24-10 advantage at halftime.

Kristin Fish and Amanda McDaniel each scored 12 points for Delta. Amy Burnett led Chaffee with seven points.

In the second game, Scott County Central led just 12-9 after one quarter. The Bravettes then outscored Oran 32-0 in the second period and led 44-9 at halftime.

Vontrice Blackmon, Central's talented 5-3 sophomore point guard, finished with a game-high 29 points. Tashika Raby scored 12, LaKeya Turner 11 and Brandy Miller 10.

Sara Heisserer had 21 of Oran's 29 points.

And in the last game, Kelly jumped out to a 21-6 first-quarter lead and led 41-9 at halftime.

Tiffany Glastetter scored a game-high 20 points. Audrey Burford had 17, Marissa Essner 16 and Heather Scott 10.

Jackson 63, New Madrid County 34

JACKSON -- A 19-4 second-quarter advantage propelled Jackson to a SEMO Conference win on Monday over a young New Madrid County Central squad.

The Lady Indians (10-1, 3-0) held a 20-15 first quarter lead, which ballooned to 39-19 by halftime.

"We played pretty good overall," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "We shot the ball well."

Melissa Palmer's 12 points led a balanced Lady Indians attack. Christa Millham added 11 points.

Shayla Day led the visitors with 16 points.

Notre Dame 74, Charleston 56

CHARLESTON -- Rachael Schlosser scored 15 points and Randi Senciboy 12 in Notre Dame's road win over Charleston on Monday.

Notre Dame (11-3) held a 17-12 first quarter lead and led 35-24 at halftime.

"We played hard; we didn't play real well," said Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim.

Olivia Beel and Jill Huber each scored 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Charleston's Lawana Wiley scored a team-high 15 points and Carlota Mims added 13.

Perryville 72, Festus 45

FESTUS -- Perryville took a 2-0 lead into the start of the game and built from there, running its Jefferson County Conference record to 3-0.

A technical foul on an illegal scorebook entry staked the Lady Pirates to a 2-0 lead. Center Renee Kaempfe then proceeded to scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half while point guard April Watts tallied 14 of her team-high 21.

"The combination of those two inside and outside just made it hard for Festus to defend us," said Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann.

Perryville (12-4) held a 23-15 lead at the close of the first quarter and 39-23 at halftime.

Kara Geldmacher scored 20 points for Festus.

Perryville returns to action Thursday when De Soto visits.

St. Vincent 58, Herculaneum 53

HERCULANEUM -- After starting the season 1-5, St. Vincent has won 5 of 6 games. The Squaws beat Herculaneum on the road on Monday.

St. Vincent (6-6) trailed by 11 points midway through the third quarter and 42-36 entering the fourth period. The Squaws then outscored the hosts 22-11 in the fourth.

Fara Galati led the Squaws with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Lakenan finished with 12 points and seven assists and Sara Cissell totaled 10 points.
