Scott County Legion drops first-round game in tournament

The Scott County Senior Legion baseball team fell into the consolation bracket of the Fighting Squirrel Baseball Classic with an 8-1 loss to the Charleston Senior Babe Ruth team Thursday in first-round action in Charleston, Mo.

Brad Potts posted the win for Charleston, while Brent Forck took the loss for Scott County.

Zach Carlyle had two hits for Scott County (2-5), which will face Elsberry at 2:30 p.m. today in Charleston. Jordan Kinder drove in Scott County's lone run.

Freshman baseball

Jackson defeated Cape Post 63 8-2 in a Freshman Legion District 14 baseball game at Central High School.

Trevor Haas and Brayden Denefield each had base hits for Post 63 (4-3, 0-1 Dist. 14). Blake Klett was the losing pitcher.
