The Scott County American Legion baseball team dropped a pair of games to open the Anheuser-Busch American Legion Tournament at Heine Meine in south St. Louis County.
Scott County was defeated by Oakville 14-4 on Friday in a game that was stopped at five innings.
Jon Simpher took the loss for Post 369, while Shane Menz had three hits, including a two-run home run.
Scott County (10-11) was beaten 8-7 on Saturday afternoon by New Baden, Ill. (14-3).
New Baden rallied from a 6-3 deficit.
Andy Stephens pitched a complete game and took the loss for Scott County. He struck out six and allowed six hits and eight walks through six innings of work.
Jacob Essner was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the game and Rusty Hendricks finished 2-for-3.
Scott County is set to resume play in the tournament 12:30 p.m. today against Columbia, Mo.
The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team defeated Metropolis, Ill., 13-1 on Saturday in a tournament in Paducah, Ky.
Dylan Schweer struck out eight and allowed only one hit over five innings to record the complete-game win.
Cape's offense was lead by Alex Schell, who went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, and Mark Himmelberg, who was 3-for-3.
