MEMPHIS — The Scott County Central and Scott City boys’ basketball teams concluded the regular season at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

“It was a great experience,” said SCC’s Marcus Warren. “ Going out there and playing on an NBA court was crazy.”

The Braves found out about two months ago they’d have the opportunity to play on the same court as the Memphis Grizzlies.

“Coach told us we’re not going to be playing at Scott City,” Warren said. “So we were all wondering where we were going to play, and that’s when he told us that we’re going to Memphis and we’re going to play them on the court. Everybody was hyped and it was crazy.”

The Rams won 60-43, but each team had some exciting and memorable moments.

“It was just a great time,” said SCC’s Asher Britt. “Everything was NBA regulation, so it just put into perspective what we see every night on ESPN. It was cool to get the chance to have an experience like that.”

“We had quite of us hit some,” Britt said. “It was a good experience and everyone had a great time. It was fun and brought everyone close together.

The most impressive shot of the day may have been when Zavior Mize buried a 3-point shot from a couple of steps inside of half-court.

“It was awesome,” Mize said. “I knocked down a couple of shots, and just like Ja Morant, I hit the Griddy on the Memphis Grizzlies’ floor. It was amazing.”

Mize said the moment stands atop all his sports memories.

“It has to be number one,” he said. “My teammates were all yelling and cheering for me. Everyone was just going crazy and it felt awesome.”

The Braves also shared a meal at B.B. King’s Blues Club before attending the Grizzlies' 117-111 win over the Utah Jazz.

“We all enjoyed being able to bond with our teammates,” Mize said. “An experience like this definitely brought the team closer together.”

Scott County Central (3-20) received the No. 5 seed in the MSHSAA Class 1, District 2 Tournament at Zalma High School, and will take on fourth-seeded Bell City (5-18) on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m.

Scott City (11-14) received the No. 6 seed in the MSHSAA Class 3, District 2 at Saxony Lutheran and will face third-seeded Saxony Lutheran (17-8) on Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
