This time, Scott County Central held on to its lead.
The No. 7 Braves, after faltering in the final minute of regulation before being upset by No. 10 Oran in overtime of the first round, took care of business Monday, knocking off No. 15 Chaffee 77-45 in the consolation semifinal of the University High Christmas Tournament.
In other consolation games, No. 9 Advance defeated No. 16 Meadow Heights 92-31; No. 12 Bell City edged No. 13 Delta 56-52 and No. 11 Leopold disposed of No. 14 Oak Ridge 62-41.
Advance will meet Bell City at noon today in one consolation semifinal, while Leopold and Scott Central will meet in the other at 1:30 p.m. today in the Show-Me Center.
Scott County Central vs. Chaffee
Scott County's John Fort scored 30 as the Braves rolled to the win. Jreece Johnson scored 17 and Vincent Stevens had 12 for Scott County Central.
Chaffee actually led 9-8 after the first quarter, but Scott County went crazy in the second quarter, outscoring the Red Devils 36-15.
Chaffee's Jeremy Halbert led Chaffee with 12 points and was the only Red Devil in double figures.
Advance 92, Meadow Heights 31
Garrett Broshuis upped his tournament average to 28.5 with a 30-point outing against the Panthers.
Daniel Turner added 23 and Seth Cantrell scored 15 for the Hornets.
Advance led 29-11 after the first quarter and 53-25 at halftime and held Meadow Heights scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Senior John Tejmer led Meadow Heights with eight points.
Leopold 62, Oak Ridge 41
Leopold's Adam Horrell and Brian Holzum each put in 18 for the Wildcats who put away the game in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Blue Jays 16-5.
Eric Hobeck led Oak Ridge with 16, followed by Beau Morrison's 14 points.
Leopold led 31-25 at halftime and 46-36 heading into the fourth quarter.
Bell City 56, Delta 52
Despite trailing 26-18 at halftime and 39-29 going into the final quarter, the Cubs managed to advance to the consolation semifinals by outscoring the Bobcats 27-13 in the fourth.
Bell City made 12-of-14 free throws in the last quarter to pull out the win.
The Cubs were led in scoring by Glenn Adams and Jarod Eftink, who each had 15 points. Nathan Walter added 11.
