ORAN -- Scott City claimed the Scott-Mississippi County Conference Tournament title Friday night with a 72-62 win over Scott County Central.
Ryan Weatherspoon led the way with a game-high 25 points, while teammate Ronald Watson followed closely behind with 23.
For Scott Central, Jreece Johnson after scoring 39 points against the Rams earlier this month was held to 23 points. Todd Blissett followed with 11.
The game was a tight one, but the third quarter was the difference as Scott City which improved to 17-1 outscored the Braves 17-10 and took a 49-40 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Rams held just a 32-30 lead at halftime.
Oran won the junior varsity title with a 61-41 win over Kelly.
Dexter 87, Advance 66
BLOOMFIELD -- In a battle of state powers, top-seeded Dexter used big second and third quarters to upend second-seeded Advance in the championship game of the Stoddard County Conference Tournament.
The Bearcats, ranked fourth in the state in Class 3A, improved to 16-0. The Hornets, ranked fourth in Class 1A, suffered only their second loss of the season.
Brett Hale poured in 30 points to pace Dexter. Also in double figures were Shannon Wright with 20 and Scott Mattingly with 17.
Garrett Broshuis led Advance with 24 points, Daniel Turner had 15 and Aaron Cantrell added 12. The Hornets played without starting point guard Adam Rainey, who was injured during Thursday's semifinal win over Bernie.
Advance led 19-13 after one quarter, but Dexter rallied for a 44-32 halftime lead and opened up a 70-45 advantage after three quarters.
Bernie captured third place with a 72-44 win over Bell City. Derek Stone led the Mules with 19 points. Nathan Walter paced the Cubs with 15 and Gabe Scherer had 10.
De Soto 62, St. Vincent 61
PERRYVILLE -- De Soto retained sole possession of first place in the Jefferson County Conference on a last-second three-point play.
The Indians, ahead 61-59 with 10 seconds to go, fouled a De Soto player as he sank a game-tying shot from the field with :01 left. He then hit the free throw for the win.
"It was a great ball game. The kids played hard, and I have nothing but compliments for them," said St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy.
Billy Davis led De Soto (14-3, 5-0) with 16 points.
Gabe Hotop scored 22 points and pulled in eight rebounds to lead St. Vincent (9-5, 3-2). Todd Meyer added 16 points.
Perryville 71, Grandview 61
PERRYVILLE -- Perryville used a big third quarter as it rallied from a 32-27 halftime deficit to defeat Grandview.
Perryville (5-11) outscored Grandview 22-5 in the third period, which was more than enough down the stretch for the win.
"In the first half we played sluggish," said Perryville coach Jeff Steffens. "We were taking the other team for granted and our kids were kind of lazy getting back on defense."
Michael Downen led the Pirates with 24 points, Ryan Wichern added 20 and Thomas Barber had with 11.
Marquand 82, Zalma 73
ZALMA -- Zalma hit for a season-high 12 3-point baskets but it still wasn't enough to turn back Marquand.
A more balanced attack, paced by Doug Rehkop's 20 points, helped send Marquand to victory. Heath Stephens added 19 points, Scott Emmett finished with 13, Dusty Homan netted 12 and Ryan Stephens and 10.
Ronnie Moit and Jason Means each finished with 22 points for Zalma (2-10), while Dustin Wiseman tallied 15.
Marquand built a 50-37 lead by halftime and held off the Bulldogs in the second half.
South Iron 104, Meadow Heights 73
MEADOW HEIGHTS -- South Iron topped 30 points in the first and third quarters en route to topping the 100-point mark as it dropped Meadow Heights to 1-14.
The Panthers kept it close in the first half, down 53-44, but were outscored 35-17 in the third quarter.
Jared Lane scored a game-high 35 points for South Iron.
Brandon Tallent led the Panthers with 24 points, while Joe Jones and Troy Hayes added 11 each.
Eagle Ridge 60, Solid Rock 59
Brandon Sparkman scored the last of his 14 points on an offensive rebound with one second left to lift Eagle Ridge to victory.
Sparkman's basket came after Luke Hale, who scored a game-high 24 points, had given Solid Rock a 59-58 lead on a three-point play with 19 seconds left.
Daniel Ellinghouse led Eagle Ridge ( 5-4) with 16 points. Toby Shreve added 13 points and Mike Probst finished with 12.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Solid Rock 26, Eagle Ridge 18
Eagle Ridge Christian School was held to single digit scoring in each quarter as it fell to 3-4 on the season.
Eagle Ridge trailed 15-9 at halftime and 20-11 after three quarters.
Amber Karnes led Eagle Ridge with eight points.
