Four days after the Scott City volleyball team defeated Central for the SEMO Conference tournament championship, the Rams claimed the regular-season conference championship with a 25-21, 25-19 victory against the Tigers on Tuesday at Central.
Scott City ended its regular season at 23-7-2, while Central finished at 10-17-1.
"We weren't prepared," Central coach Maile Gannon said. "Last night, we had a high-intensity match [in a win against Poplar Bluff], and I think emotionally we were a little excited, and we weren't ready for the match tonight.
"We struggled against a good Scott City team."
Kacie Ritter had nine kills to lead the Rams, and Brittany Licare added 13 digs. Lindsey Amick had 16 assists, Whitney Tapley had five kills, and Amanda Braun and Heather Huckstep had three blocks apiece.
For Central, Kristin Shirrell had 10 assists and three blocks. Carissa Wheeler had five blocks and three kills and Wendi Zickfield added four kills.
JV -- Scott City also captured the conference title with a 21-25, 25-20, 25-20 win over Central.

Jenny Vandeven had 10 kills, as the Wildcats posted win No. 20 at home. Cassie Seiler added 15 assists for Leopold (20-4). Cassi Jansen and Janice Jansen had four kills apiece.

Notre Dame fell in the first game but rallied back for a road victory at New Madrid County Central.
Kaitlyn Scheeter led the Bulldogs (12-12-3) with seven digs and three kills. Meridith Medlin had 10 assists, Ashley Nenninger had five kills, and Destiny Dirnberger added three kills.

Saxony Lutheran 22 24
Saxony Lutheran fell on the road against Oran.
Carmen Duncan had eight kills for Oran (8-16-2), Cammie Milan had six ace serves and Courtney Nenninger had four blocks.
Stacey Manche had six digs for the Crusaders (3-21). Nicole Pezoldt had four kills, Manche had nine points and Meredith Hoffman had seven points.
Saxony Lutheran will host Chaffee on Thursday in a game originally scheduled to be played at Chaffee.
JV -- Oran won 25-19, 25-14.
In the losers bracket, Jackson defeated Kennett 2-0 and will play Farmington on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for the consolation title.
