EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Scott City scored its only touchdown on a 1-yard Bradley Glenn run, but it proved to be enough offense to overcome a spirited East Prairie squad as the Rams claimed a 7-6 SEMO South Conference victory Friday night.

Scott City, ranked seventh in Missouri Class 2A, improved to 3-0. East Prairie fell to 1-2.

Glenn's run came with less than a minute left in the first half and capped an 80-yard drive. Andrew Estes kicked the decisive extra point for a 7-6 halftime lead.

East Prairie had taken a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 20-yard play-action pass.

"They just stacked everybody in the box," said Scott City coach Stephen O'Brien.

Glenn led the Scott City offense with 109 yards rushing on 29 carries.

"It was a tough game like we expected," said O'Brien. "We did expect to be able to move the ball better."

Scott City held on by thwarting two East Prairie fourth-quarter drives that found Ram territory.

One drive ended when an Eagle runner fumbled at the Ram 35, while the other ended on downs at the Scott City 32.

St. Vincent 13, Lutheran South 10

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent's All-State kicker Derek Kutz nailed a 32-yard field goal in the waning seconds as the Indians broke a late tie.

It was a defensive struggle all night between the 1A Indians and 3A Lutheran South.

"They were big and physical," said St. Vincent coach Keith Winkler. "It was a game of field position, and fortunately we got into position for the game-winning kick."

St. Vincent (3-0) got on the scoreboard first on a 2-yard run by Adam Bockman in the second quarter. A Kutz extra point kick made it 7-0 and that score stood for the rest of the first half.

Lutheran South (2-1) recovered an errant punt snap in the St. Vincent end zone at the 9:37 mark of the third quarter for a safety, narrowing the score to 7-2.

After a stalled drive, Kutz was called on with 4:35 left in the third quarter and delivered a 39-yard field goal to increase the Indians lead to 10-2.

Early in the fourth quarter Lutheran South's John Mead scored on a 1-yard dive and ran in the two-point conversion to tie the game at 10-10.

With the defenses of both teams dominating, St. Vincent was finally able to penetrate deep enough with 1:08 left on the clock to set up the field goal try. Kutz, one of the area's premier kickers, split the uprights with the game-winning kick.
