Scott City's football team bounced back from its first loss of the season, as the Rams opened Class 2 District 2 play with a 37-6 win over visiting Grandview on Friday night.

The Rams (7-1), who lost to Hayti last week, got two rushing touchdowns from both Matt Schaefer and Dane Gibson.

Jason Schenimann caught a touchdown pass from Mark Johnston, who also threw two-point conversion passes to Gibson and Luke McClellan. Schaefer kicked three extra points.

St. Vincent 61, Chaffee 6

Chaffee scored the game's first touchdown but St. Vincent got the next 61 points, as the Indians opened Class 1 District 1 play with a home romp.

The Red Devils (0-8) used a 96-yard drive to take a 6-0 lead on a 12-yard pass from Jeff Daugherty to Rick Baylis.

But the Indians (7-1) built a 42-6 lead by halftime.

Alex Armbruster threw three touchdown passes to Joey Guilliams, covering 47, 24 and 19 yards. Waylon Richardet scored on runs of 43 and 8 yards. Also running for TDs were Dustin Winkler, Luke Guyot, Luke Klump and Dustin Ochs.

GIRLS TENNIS

Central's doubles team of Brett Ford and Dani Gross went 1-2 and was eliminated from the Class 2 state tournament in Springfield.

Ford and Gross lost their first-round match to the St. Joseph Central squad of Jordan Kipira and Megan Liechti 6-1, 6-1.

Bumped into the consolation bracket, Ford and Gross bounced back to beat Michelle Tobben and Garwen Chen of Parkway North 6-2, 6-4, but then were eliminated by Stacey Goebel and Sarah Dalton of Oakville 6-3, 6-2.

VOLLEYBALL Advance 19-25-25 Meadow Heights 25-19-12

Advance closed out the regular season with a three-game road victory.

Kaci Cooper led the Hornets (18-10-1) with nine kills. Leslie Rainey had eight kills and four digs.
