OAK RIDGE -- Scott City High's boys basketball team continued its torrid early-season start by routing host Oak Ridge 98-51 Tuesday night.

Twelve players scored for the Rams, who improved to 6-0. Jon Beck led the way with 21 points, followed by Tim Lowery with 20, Ryan Weatherspoon with 13 and Luke Sample with 11.

Oak Ridge, which fell to 1-5, got 14 points from Nick Friese and 12 from Matt Pruesser.

"Scott City has a really good team," said Oak Ridge coach Chris Winkler. "They've got some excellent shooters."

The Rams, who hit 13 3-pointers, jumped out to a 32-16 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Scott City will return to action Friday night at Advance while Oak Ridge hosts Kelly.

Kelly 80, Bloomfield 58

BLOOMFIELD -- Kelly improved its record to 6-0 with an impressive road victory Tuesday night.

"We were kind of worried about maybe having a letdown tonight, but we jumped on them kind of quick and took care of business," said Kelly coach Kent Mangels. "It was probably best game we've played all year."

Jason Glastetter paced the Hawks with 23 points while Denver Stuckey had 14, Ben Klipfel 11 and Jim Hulshof 11.

The Hawks led 21-10 after one quarter and 43-24 at halftime.

Kelly will visit Oak Ridge Friday night.

Delta 97, M. Heights 51

PATTON -- Delta improved to 5-1 by rolling on the road Tuesday night.

Nine players scored at least eight points for the Bobcats, led by Aaron Altenthal, Garrett DeBrock and Ryan Livingston all with 12 points apiece. Andy Blattel added 11.

Meadow Heights (2-4) got 15 points from Kevin Weaver. The Panthers trailed 45-22 at halftime.

Both teams return to action Friday night, Delta hosting Oran and Meadow Heights visiting Marquand.

Marquand 49, St. Vincent 39

PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent's woes continued Tuesday night as the Indians fell to 0-6 by losing at home.

Marquand (3-3) led by 20 points late in the game before the Indians made the final square more respectable. Dustin Stephens led the Tigers with 12 points while Brandon Settle and Travis Braswell both had 10.

St. Vincent got 12 points from Chad Winkler.

"I thought we did a real good job defensively," said Marquand coach Rob Harlow. "Steve Braswell did a great job on the offensive boards and had a heck of a defensive effort."

Said St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy, "We're struggling. We scored 10 points in the last minute of game but basically it was a 20-point game. It wasn't even close."

St. Vincent's JV improved to 6-0 with a 78-17 win.

Both teams will play again Friday night, Marquand hosting Meadow Heights in its first home game of the season and St. Vincent visiting Leopold.

Bell City 61, Leopold 28

BELL CITY -- Bell City shook off a slow start to eventually run away with an easy win at home Tuesday night.

Bell City (3-3) led only 21-10 at halftime, but 20-point quarters in the final two frames pushed the Cubs well ahead of Leopold.

"We had a slow shooting night to start, but then we warmed up a bit," said Bell City coach Scott Kruse.

Justin Stephens scored 14 points to lead the Cubs. Matt Knoderer and Richard Surface both added 10 points. No one scored over eight points for Leopold.

The Cubs travel to Bernie Friday night while Leopold hosts St. Vincent.

Oran 74, East Prairie 64

EAST PRAIRIE -- Oran used a huge second quarter to win handily on the road Tuesday night.

The Eagles (3-2) trailed 17-10 after one quarter but outscored East Prairie 24-5 in the second period to lead 34-22 at halftime.

Five players scored in double figures for the Eagles: Ricky Eftink (17), Billy Loper (13), Justin Wierman (12), Gerod Hamm (12) and Daniel Wheeler (10).

Oran's JV is now 4-1 after a 77-27 win.

The Eagles face a big test Friday night as they visit Delta.
