DELTA -- Scott City scored in all but one inning, using 10 hits and 11 walks to defeat Delta 17-6 Monday in high school baseball action.
Scott City improved to 10-2 while Delta fell to 4-7.
Keith Anderson led the Ram attack with three hits, including two doubles and a triple, and five RBIs.
John Wipfler added a seventh-inning home run, while Tim Lowery had three hits. Kurt Burger added two hits and Jeremy Enderle scored three runs.
The Rams used three walks in the first inning and a two-run double by Anderson to take a 3-0 lead. Delta scored two runs in the first, but Scott City added four runs in the third without a hit. Four walks by losing pitcher Kenny Gaebler fueled the inning. The Rams scored three more in the fourth for a 10-4 advantage.
Garrett DeBrock had two hits and two RBIs for Delta. Gaebler scored three of his team's six runs.
Oran 6, Kelly 1
BENTON -- Oran continued its excellent season Monday with an impressive road win.
The Eagles, now 11-1, got a strong pitching performance from Justin McAllister. He struck out 11, walked four and allowed just two hits.
Dustin Dannemueller paced the Eagles' offensively with three hits, including two doubles. Michael Stevens had two of Oran's 11 hits.
Softball
Kelly 15, Oran 0
BENTON -- Kim Riley pitched a three-inning perfect game Monday as Kelly remained undefeated on the season.
Riley (8-0), a junior, obtained seven of the nine outs via strikeouts.
Kelly (12-0) had just two hits, but was issued 12 walks. Andee Heisserer had a bases-loaded triple and finished with four RBIs. Brandi Hamm doubled for the other hit and collected two RBIs.
Kelly scored seven runs in the first, five in the second and three in the third.
Scott City 19, Delta 11
DELTA -- Scott City improved to 9-3 by beating host Delta Monday.
Amy O'Brien was the winning pitcher. She also had three hits, including a home run. Sarah Glenn and Heather Miller both added three hits while Jenni Miller and Megan Noon had two apiece.
Delta's Jody Below had three hits while Amy Wyckoff added two.
Chaffee 12, New Madrid 10
NEW MADRID -- Chaffee scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 10-10 tie and the Lady Red Devils went on to defeat New Madrid.
All nine Chaffee starters had hits in the Lady Red Devils' 11-hit attack. Jennifer Siebert and Wendy Hanselman each had two hits.
Chaffee (11-1) also had 13 stolen bases on the day.
Jamie Duncan pitched the final two innings in relief of Kelly Glueck and notched the win. Duncan struck out four and allowed three hits.
New Madrid finished with 14 hits.
The Lady Eagles led 6-5 after three innings, but Chaffee moved ahead 10-6 with five runs in the top of the fourth. New Madrid countered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and single run in the sixth to tie the game at 10-10.
Advance 16, Dexter 6
ADVANCE -- Amanda Broushius accounted for four hits, including a triple and a double, as Advance defeated Dexter.
Tiffany Lemons added three hits and Amanda Jordan, Stacey O'Hare and Julie Bagwell each had two as Advance improved to 9-4 on the season.
Advance scored three runs in the first and never trailed. Leading 3-2 in the third, Advance scored four times for a 7-2 advantage.
Starter Cassandra Williams pitched four innings to pick up the win.
Boys Golf
Jackson wins tourney
FARMINGTON -- Jackson captured its second tournament title of the season Monday by winning the 14-team Farmington event that featured two-man best-ball competition.
The Indians had a score of 228, ahead of Francis Howell North (235) and Cape Central (237).
Jackson cleaned up in the individual competition as well. Clint Faires was the overall medalist with a score of 78 while Gabe Estes tied for second at 79. Estes and Matt Wilson combined for a 72 for the best two-man score. Faires and Tyler Luebbers were second at 74.
Also for the Indians, Travis Reiminger and John Litzelfelner shot 82.
"We played well," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "It was a real good day for us."
For Cape Central, Dane McLaird and Dan Groesbeck shot 78; Bryan Welker and Mike Oslund shot 79; and Chris Patterson and Kent Phillips shot. 80
"The scores were a little high. It was extremely windy, but I thought we played pretty well under difficult playing conditions," said Cape Central coach Dick Wadlington.
Boys Tennis
Cape Central 7, Poplar Bluff 2
Cape Central improved to 8-6 in dual matches by beating visiting Poplar Bluff Monday.
The Tigers won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles contests.
Central's JV won all 15 matches that were played.
