MALDEN -- Jon Beck scored 29 points and Ron Watson added 25 as Scott City High's boys basketball team pushed its winning streak to eight games with an 88-63 victory over host Malden Tuesday night.

The Rams (17-2) scored 54 points in the second half after leading 34-23 at halftime.

Lance Amick added 13 for Scott City, which moved up to No. 2 in the most recent Class 2A state poll.

Terrell Mathies scored 22 points to lead Malden.

Kelly 81, Chaffee 41

CHAFFEE -- Kelly's Jim Hulshof scored 15 points, his last basket giving him 1,000 career varsity points, as the Hawks routed Chaffee.

Kelly moved to 12-6, dropping Chaffee 1-14. Kelly's Aaron Johnson finished with 14 points and Russ Mothershead added 10.

A 17-0 run in the first quarter sent Kelly to a 20-3 first-period lead.

Delta 52, Woodland 49

DELTA -- David Massa's 3-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out as Delta held on for a triumph over Woodland.

Massa did hit five 3s and finished with 25 points. But Delta got 20 points each from Josh Altenthal and Ryan Livingston as the Bobcats improved to 6-10.

Perryville 72, Festus 59

PERRYVILLE -- Ryan Wischern scored 22 points as Perryville moved to 4-2 in Jefferson County Conference play and 8-10 overall with its victory over visiting Festus.

Ryan Verseman added 12 points and Tyler Abernathy and Josh Hudson 11 each for the Pirates.

Perryville led 19-5 after one quarter and 43-15 at the half.

St. Vincent 71, Crystal City 64

PERRYVILLE -- Ryan Prost posted a game-high 20 points as St. Vincent topped Crystal City.

Bryan Meyer had 15 points and Dusty Wengert added 11 for St. Vincent, which moved to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the Jefferson County Conference's small schools division.

St. Vincent trailed 16-10 after one quarter and 32-30 at the break before making a surge in third quarter.

Scott County Central 96, Oran 89

MORLEY -- Six players scored at least 20 points as Scott County Central outran Oran.

For Central, Jreece Johnson had 27 points, Todd Blissett 25 and Jon Fort 21. And for Oran, Daniel Wheeler had 28, Jerod Hamm 25 and Billy Loper 23.

Central improved to 14-4.

BOYS SWIMMING

Cape Central 97, Parkway Central 89

ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central completed its best dual season in school history with a narrow victory over host Parkway Central.

Cape Central (9-3-1) won seven events. Among the highlights were Jason Owen and Eric Yount completing undefeated regular seasons. Owen, who won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, has not been beaten in any event this season.

"He really hasn't had a close race in any of them," said Cape Central coach Dayna Powell. "He's dominated everybody."

Eric Yount won the 50 and 100 freestyles and completed the regular season undefeated in both events.

Owen and Yount are among the Tigers' state qualifiers that will be competing at the state championships Feb. 12-13.

Powell lauded her team, which includes 11 seniors.

"They've been hard working and a close team," said Powell. "I've never had a group like them."

Cape Central 82, New Madrid Co. Central 12

Cape Central didn't lose a match as it routed New Madrid County Central to improve to 6-4 in dual meets.

New Madrid's points resulted from double forfeits at 103 and 112 pounds.

The Tigers will compete in Saturday's Class 4A, District 1 Tournament at Mehlville in St. Louis.

Farmington 42, Jackson 28

FARMINGTON -- Powerful Farmington won the last eight matches to rally past visiting Jackson.

Farmington ended its dual-meet season undefeated while Jackson finished 6-2.

Jackson won five straight matches between 112 and 135 pounds before Farmington captured the last eight.

"They've got a tremendous team," said Jackson coach Steve Wachter. "It was a good match."

The Indians' JV finished the season undefeated with a 47-21 win.

Jackson will compete in the Class 4A, District 1 Tournament Saturday at Mehlville in St. Louis.
