Top-seeded Scott City had little problem advancing past the first round of the Chaffee Invitational Monday night, destroying eighth-seeded East Prairie 97-15.

Also winning games Tuesday were second-seeded Kelly (over Sikeston) and fourth-seeded Portageville (over Chaffee). Scores were not available.

Scott City (3-0) will face Portageville in a 7 p.m. semifinal on Wednesday. Kelly will play the winner of Wednesday's first round game between third-seeded Delta and sixth-seeded Oran.

Twelve Lady Rams found the scoring column in Scott City's rout of East Prairie.

The Lady Rams held a 27-0 lead at the close of the first quarter and led 48-6 at halftime.

Alaina Smith led four Lady Rams in double figures with 17 points. Megan Noon and Amy O'Brien each netted 14 points while Lani Bedwell scored 12.

Jackson and Cape Central both won games Monday in Jackson's round-robin girls tournament.

Jackson defeated Perryville 47-31 behind 15 points from Andrea Koeper. Amy Frentzel scored 13 for Perryville.

Cape Central beat Notre Dame 35-22 as Ashlie Voerg and Mindy Hoffman each tallied eight points.

Central freshmen

Cape Central's freshmen squads split a pair of games with Carbondale.

The `A' team picked up its first win of the season, a 40-39 overtime contest. For Central 1-4), Chris Cole scored 20 points and Matt Brandt netted 12.

In the `B' game, Carbondale won 61-35. Drew Smith scored eight points for Central (1-1).
