Scott City left little to chance in Tuesday's Class 3 District 2 showdown with Kelly.

The Rams aggressively pushed the ball inside, forced Kelly into 24 fouls and never trailed during a 73-55 semifinal victory at Bloomfield.

Second-seeded Scott City (22-4) advanced to Thursday's championship game with Charleston, a 65-34 winner over Woodland.

Mark Dannenmueller scored a game-high 24 points, including 14 in the first period to pace Scott City. He also grabbed 10 rebounds.

"We came out pretty hard," said Scott City coach Lance Amick, whose team led 25-18 after one period. "We were attacking the basket and getting the ball inside. A big part of the game was free throws. We made more than they attempted."

Scott City was 25 of 34 from the free-throw line, while Kelly was 10 for 16.

Scott City also fired in six 3-pointers with Dannenmueller hitting four.

Tyler Ward added 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots. Jeremy Schlosser scored 15 points and dished out nine assists.

Kelly had two players in double figures. Josh Jones scored 15 points, and Chris Romas.

Scott City lost to Charleston by eight points in a meeting earlier this year, according to Amick.

"Hopefully we can make it a ballgame," Amick said.

Charleston held Woodland to six points combined in the second and third quarters to secure its path into Thursday's district finals.

Woodland finished the season 14-12. Chad Hulvey led the Cardinals with 12 points.

Ashton Farmer led Charleston with 14 points, and Joshua Strayhorn scored 10.Scott City 73, Kelly 55
