Fourth-seeded Scott County Central defeated fifth-seeded Scott City 62-35 in the first round of the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament Wednesday night in Chaffee.

Janet Penrod led the Bravettes with 18 points. Jessica Warren paced Scott City with 13 points.

In other first-round action, third-seeded Charleston defeated sixth-seeded Chaffee 65-53. Charleston got 29 points from Missy Whitney and 22 from Shytorya Davis. Kegan Orr scored 15 for Chaffee (5-7).

Central defeated Scott City 57-44 in the semifinals of the Central JV Tournament. Jared Thomas had 22 points for the Tigers (8-4). Andy Stephens had 17 for the Rams. In the other semifinal, Kelly defeated Perryville 53-39.

Matt Hester led Central's freshman with 14 points as the Tigers beat Kelly 46-43 in overtime at the Central Freshman Tournament. Central (7-4) will play Jackson for the championship today.
