ORAN -- Scott City used a 14-hit attack to defeat Oran 12-5 Thursday and remain unbeaten on the season.
Joey Jacobs accounted for three of the hits while Keith Anderson, Kirt Burger, Howie Stubenrauch, John Wiphler and Ken Lowery all finished with two hits. Among Burger's hits was a sixth-inning solo home run.
Jason Landis went the distance for Scott City (4-0), limiting the Eagles to four hits. Landis struck out nine and walked seven.
The Rams led throughout, building a 4-0 lead by the start of the fourth inning. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the fourth, but Scott City pushed across four more runs in the fifth for a 10-2 lead. Oran closed the gap to 10-5, but never got closer.
Scott City will host Chaffee on Monday.
Chaffee 11, Scott. Co. 1
CHAFFEE -- Chaffee's Phillip Blevins was impressive in his first varsity start as the Red Devils beat visiting Scott County Central in six innings Thursday.
Blevins, a sophomore, pitched all six frames, allowing just one hit while striking out six and walking four.
Chaffee (2-4, 2-1 conference) opened the game with five runs in the first inning and cruised from there.
Dusty Leggett led the Red Devils offensively. He went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Chaffee will travel to Scott City Monday.
Perryville 5, Hillsboro 3
HILLSBORO -- Down 3-0, Perryville scored five runs in the fifth inning and held on to beat host Hillsboro Thursday.
Matt Meyr struck out 15 in earning the complete game win. He allowed eight hits and walked two.
For the Pirates (4-2, 3-1 conference), Nick Adams went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Kyle Yamnitz had a double and two RBI.
Perryville will host conference foe DeSoto on Monday.
Kelly 15, Charleston 0
CHARLESTON -- Kelly's Jim Hulshof pitched his second consecutive one-hitter as the Hawks cruised to a five-inning victory.
Hulshof struck out nine Bluejays and walked one.
Denver Stuckey led a 14-hit Hawk attack with three hits and an RBI. Brandin Pattengill, Hulshof, Andy Martin and Jon Ziegler all finished with two hits. Ziegler had a double and a triple and finished with three RBI. Pattengill and Martin each had two RBI, as did John Livingston and Jason Glastetter.
Kelly (3-2) broke the game open from the start, scoring seven runs in the top of the first. The Hawks added a run in the second and six in the third for a 14-0 advantage.
Kelly will visit Bloomfield on Monday.
Softball
Chaffee 18, Scott County Central 0
CHAFFEE -- Six games into the season and Chaffee still has not given up a run.
The Lady Red Devils put Scott County Central away in three innings Thursday, scoring 11 runs in the first and seven in the second. Chaffee (6-0) added seven hits to 16 walks by Bravette pitchers.
Jamie Duncan finished with three hits and two RBI and Brandi Foulk added two hits and two RBI.
Scott City 17, Oran 3
ORAN -- Scott City's Terra Phillips ripped an RBI-triple and a three-run home run in the third inning of the Lady Rams win.
Scott City (4-0) scored 10 runs in the third to take a 16-2 lead and eventually won in five innings.
Heather Miller (2-0) got the win for the Lady Rams, striking out eight in three innings. Dana Petitt, Jennie Miller and Tonya Mathews also had two hits for Scott City.
Melissa Loper ripped two hits for Oran.
Kelly 19, Charleston 1
CHARLESTON -- Kelly hammered Charleston on the road Thursday in four innings to improve to 5-0.
Brittany Lambert earned the win, allowing three hits in four innings while striking out two.
Offensively, Lambert and Amanda Backfish both went 2-for-3, Kim Riley had a triple and two RBI and Natalie Robert added a triple and an RBI.
Kelly will travel to Bloomfield Monday.
Golf
Jackson 151, Clearwater 194
CLEARWATER -- Jackson easily defeated host Clearwater Thursday.
Jackson's Travis Reiminger was medalist with a 35.
Also for the Indians, John Litzelfelner and Clint Faries shot 37 and Gabe Estes and Matt Wilson shot 42.
Jackson will travel to Poplar Bluff on Monday.
Perryville wins triangular
PERRYVILLE -- Perryville edged cross-town rival St. Vincent by two strokes on its way to a triangular victory Thursday at Perryville Country Club.
Perryville finished at 177, with St. Vincent at 179 and Hillsboro at 182.
Perryville (5-6 overall, 3-3 Jefferson County Conference) saw John Miederhoff lead the way with an 8-over-par 43. Ryan Besand (44), Andy Tanz (45) and Nathan Rellergert (45) rounded out the Pirates' top four scores.
Perryville will host Notre Dame today.
JV Baseball
Sikeston 7, Cape Central 1
Central's Aaron Wolf broke up a no-hitter with two-outs in the seventh inning at Arena Park but the junior varsity Tigers still fell to Sikeston.
Matt Welker (1-1) took the loss for Central (1-2).
A Rick Davis groundout in the first inning scored Mitch Ogles for the Tigers only run.
Track
Jackson boys place 2nd
POTOSI -- With 118 points, Jackson's boys finished second behind Farmington's 125 in the Potosi Invitational Thursday. Union was third with 103.
Individual winners for Jackson were Lucas Bollinger (400-meter run), Jeremy Kuntze (shot put), Nathan Windekenecht (long jump and triple jump) and Kevin Bricknell (high jump).

Tennis
Lonoke (Ky.) 8, Central 1
Central's Wade Russell recorded a big victory in the opening match Thursday at home against Lonoke (Ky.).
But it was the only time Central tasted victory in the meet, dropping its record to 3-3.
The junior varsity (3-2-1) also lost to Lonoke 5-2.
Central will host Kennett on Monday.
