The Scott City baseball team picked up a key win Tuesday.

The Rams defeated Notre Dame 9-8 by rallying for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The win over a district team comes the night before the Class 3 District 1 seeding meeting.

Alex Eichhorn led off the seventh inning with a single but was erased when the Rams' next batter grounded into a double play.

Austin Atchley followed with a single, and he scored the tying run when Ryan Fortner ripped a double.

Scott City walked off with the victory when Forrest Copeland smacked a single to right field to end the game.

Fortner and Jamie Brant both knocked in two runs for Scott City.

Brant, who homered, earned the win on the mound. He struck out six and walked four in a complete-game effort.

Jonathan Lynch suffered the loss in relief. He went 2 1/3 innings.

Derek Landewee, Cody Heisserer and Alex Beussink all had two hits for the Bulldogs (11-3), who will play for the SEMO Conference tournament title Saturday against Kennett.
