Winston Cup driver Ken Schrader will take injured World of Outlaws champion Danny Lasoski's spot in the IROC finale Saturday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"I've known Danny a very, very, long time. Before he started driving, he would come out and help us when I was racing Sprint Cars," Schrader said of his fellow Missouri racer. "I'm very grateful and honored to have this opportunity to drive for him. I'm just sorry it has to be under these circumstances."

Lasoski is from Dover. Schrader is from Fenton.

Lasoski was hurt Friday night in Mechanicsburg, Pa., sustaining a concussion and bruises to the lung, heart, shoulder and ankle.

"I don't know what hurts more, my body, or the fact that I have to miss this final race at the Brickyard," Lasoski said. "When the reality of how banged up I am began to sink in I knew somebody else was going to have to do it for me, and the one guy I really wanted to see do it was Kenny Schrader."

Lasoski was released from a hospital Monday and hoped to race Wednesday at Sharon Speedway in Ohio. Johnny Herrera, who drove the No. 20 J.D. Byrider Eagle into 16th place from outside the 13th row Saturday, replaced Lasoski in the car again Monday and finished seventh in New York.

Lasoski lost his World of Outlaws point lead to Steve Kinser over the weekend.
