Juniors Jill Schnurbusch and Jerika Lewis highlighted strong performances by Southeast Missouri State track and field athletes over the weekend.
Schnurbusch, a Notre Dame Regional High School graduate, broke the school pole vault record for the fourth time this season.
Schnurbusch finished first at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill., with a height of 12 feet, 8 1/4 inches.
Lewis also helped the Southeast's women to a third-place team finish, winning the 200 meters (25.23 seconds) and 400 meters (56.77).
Erica Grajales (11-2 1/2) and Nikki Buchheit (10-8 3/4) were fourth and fifth in the pole vault, respectively.
Angelica Larrier was fourth in the 60 (7.82), Unique Hooks was fifth in the 60 hurdles (9.29), and Magan Edwards placed fifth in the 400 (58.99) and eighth in the 200 (26.23).
Southeast's men were seventh in the meet.
Mohamed Souleiman was second in the 800 (1:54), Prentice Ivy was fifth in the 60 hurdles (8.92), and Alexander Anderson finished sixth in the 200 (22.96).
The Redhawks also competed at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
Josh Uchtman led the Redhawks with a third-place finish in the shot put (60-1).
Craig Robinson reached a career-best in the weight throw to place fourth (63-0), and Courtney Gapelu was seventh in the shot put (47-9).
Southeast teams compete this weekend at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
Gymnastics
The Southeast gymnastics team had several solid performances but fell to 0-3 with a 193.450-188.350 dual loss Saturday at Michigan State.
Sophomore Megan Fosnow, competing in all four events for the first time, won the all-around with a score of 37.250. Junior Angela Serafini was second at 37.075.
Fosnow and Serafini tied for third on bars at 9.700. Fosnow also tied for fourth on vault (9.725).
Junior Emma Garrett tied for third on floor (9.700), and junior Taylor Westrick was fourth on beam (9.675).
The Redhawks return to action Friday, facing Oklahoma and Iowa State in the Perfect 10 Challenge in Oklahoma City, Okla.
