The best game of Matt Scheible's young college career netted him the Ohio Valley Conference newcomer of the week award.
Scheible, Southeast Missouri State's true freshman quarterback, was honored by the OVC on Monday for his performance in Saturday's season-ending 33-30 win at Austin Peay.
Making just his second college start, Scheible completed 12 of 24 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns, all career highs.
Scheible also gained 73 yards rushing on 17 carries to account for 268 of Southeast's 331 total yards.
Scheible, a native of Washington, Mo., led a 60-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown with 13 seconds left in the game as the Redhawks pulled out the victory.
Southeast finished the season 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the OVC.
