MORLEY -- New Madrid County Central High's girls basketball team opened the game with a 22-point quarter and then finished with one in a 73-52 win over Scott County Central Wednesday night.
Ashley Whitson scored 17 points for the Bravettes (8-6) and Brandy Miller followed with 14, but it wasn't enough as four New Madrid players scored in double figures.
Shayla Day scored a game-high 18 points for New Madrid, followed by Alicia Thatch with 16, Whitney Wade with 13 and Ashley Barnes with 12.

Jackson beats Central
JACKSON -- Jason Beck scored a game-high 11-point in leading top-seeded Jackson to a win over No. 4 Cape Central 36-27 Wednesday night in the opening round of the eighth-grade portion of the Jackson Tournament.
Adrian Wren provided eight points and 11 rebounds for Central.
