PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Saxony Lutheran made a furious comeback over the final 3 minutes of its boys basketball game with St. Pius on Saturday at the Heartland Hoopfest, but the rally fell short in a 62-54 loss at the Perry Park Center. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Saxony Lutheran made a furious comeback over the final 3 minutes of its boys basketball game with St. Pius on Saturday at the Heartland Hoopfest, but the rally fell short in a 62-54 loss at the Perry Park Center.

The Crusaders (3-1) used a 14-0 run to cut St. Pius' lead from 56-38 to 56-52 in the final minute, but St. Pius managed to make a couple of baskets down the stretch to pull out the win.

"I was really pleased with the way we competed at the end, a lot of teams would have folded there," Saxony Lutheran coach John Daniel said.

Casey Petzoldt led the Crusaders with 25 points, 21 in the second half. Ben Courtois added nine points, all in the fourth.

Notre Dame 79, Du Quoin (Ill.) 45

Notre Dame's press forced numerous turnovers as the Bulldogs picked up a win over Du Quoin (Ill.) to improve to 4-0.

Frankie Ellis scored 10 points in the third quarter, when Notre Dame outscored Du Quoin 27-12 to open a 62-32 lead heading into the final period.

Ellis led the Bulldogs with 17 points, Alex Ressel had 15, Kirk Boeller scored 11 and Xavier Delph finished with 10.

St. Vincent 60, Oak Ridge 47

Waylon Richardet led St. Vincent with 18 points and 15 rebounds as St. Vincent picked up its first win of the season less than 24 hours after suffering a season-opening loss to Kelly.

Greg Finger added 11 points and nine assists for the Indians.

Austin Hahs led Oak Ridge with 22 points.

Jackson 50, Lafayette 45

Aaron Redecker scored 21 points for the Indians (5-1).

Ste. Gen 57, Perryville 43

Rick Dunn scored a game-high 19 points, but the Pirates could not overcome a poor second half.
