BASEBALLOran 6, South Pemiscot 2, 8 innings

Sophomore Jayden Pobst picked up the win in relief of Steven Dooley as the Class 1 Eagles had to work overtime to beat Class 2 state-ranked South Pem.

Pobst pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed no hits and no walks. He struck out one.

Dooley had pitched six shutout innings but gave up a leadoff walk in the seventh inning that led to South Pem's two-run rally. A basehit and a fielding error chased Dooley from the game. After Chase Seyer recorded an out, then allowed a hit and walk, Pobst entered with the score tied and two runners on and got out of the jam.

Oran's eighth-inning rally began with Cody Campbell's double. Seyer drove him home and then scored on Alex Chasteen's basehit. Chasteen came in later in the inning on Dooley's suicide squeeze.

Pobst then used just nine pitches in the eighth to close out the game.

Dooley allowed three hits, two runs (one earned) and one walk while striking out seven in six-plus innings.

Seyer and Cody Dirnberger each was 3-for-4, while Cambell was 2-for-5.
