Meadow Heights (7-8) led 6-3 after six innings but committed three of their four errors in the last inning and blew a seventh-inning lead for the fifth time this season...

The first-year Saxony Lutheran baseball team scored four runs unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to post a 7-6 road victory Friday against Meadow Heights, a district opponent.

Meadow Heights (7-8) led 6-3 after six innings but committed three of their four errors in the last inning and blew a seventh-inning lead for the fifth time this season.

All six of Saxony's runs were unearned.

Peter Winningham earned his third win for the Crusaders (10-4). He struck out six batters and allowed no runs after replacing starter Casey Petzoldt in the third.

Winningham, Kory Mueller and Casey Petzoldt each had two hits for the Crusaders.

Terry Wagner had three hits and Brian Miinch added two for Meadow Heights.

Oran 8, Chaffee 4

Oran doubled up Chaffee at home using two four-run scoring bursts late in the game.

Caleb Seyer hit a home run and had two hits for the Eagles (12-5), and pitcher Trevor Irwin chipped in two hits and a double of his own. Kody Campbell also went 2-for-4 for Oran.

Anthony Grojean picked up his 300th career strikeout in a five-inning complete-game victory at home.

Grojean struck out 12, walked three and allowed two hits. Michael Dowd added two hits and four RBIs for the Cardinals (4-12). Jacob Gillis, Ben Rhodes and Austin Bollinger had three RBIs apiece.

The Tigers (12-10) won on the road at St. Louis County as sophomore pitcher Brad LaBruyere improved to 7-2.

Delta 8, Leopold 3

Delta scored five runs in the fifth inning to snap a 3-3 tie and win on the road.

Chase Rhodes delivered a three-run triple in the fifth to help the Bobcats (4-9) pull away. Tyler Martin had two hits.

Cody Crowden earned the win on the mound, striking out nine batters in seven innings.

Michael Vandeven had two hits for Leopold (8-7).

Scott County won its first game of the season in an offensive battle with Richland on the road.

Jeremy Johson went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Braves (1-9), while teammate Tyler Griffen was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Pitcher Mark Freed chipped in three hits, and Chris Monroe and Josh Holman each had two hits.

GIRLS SOCCER I-55 Classic

The Central soccer team's offensive problems continuedm as the Tigers (9-6-1) suffered their second straight shutout loss, falling 1-0 to Wentzville Holt in the I-55 Classic at Jackson.

Holt broke a scoreless tie with a goal about 15 minutes into the second half and withstood several chances by the Tigers.

"We had some real good chances, two exceptional chances where we were one-on-one with the goalkeeper but missed the net," Central coach Tom Doyle said. "We haven't scored in about 2 1/2 games."

The Tigers play Lafayette at 9 a.m. today in the round-robin tournament.

Notre Dame tied Lafayette 0-0 as sophomore goalkeeper Claudia Brauss made 18 saves for the host Bulldogs (9-8-3).

"They had us on the ropes, but the girls did a good job holding it together," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said. "Claudia did a real good job in goal."

The Bulldogs will take on Cedar Hill Northwest at 9 a.m. today.

Jackson defeated Northwest 3-0 in a first-round game at Jackson.

Molly Hartmann, Lauren Drewett and Erin Curtis scored for the Indians (14-2), while Hartmann and Chealsea Dale had assists. Kylie Werner recorded the shutout.

Jackson will play at 9 a.m. today against Wentzville Holt.

St. Vincent 1, Sikeston 0

St. Vincent's Brooke Brown scored at the 28-minute mark to give the Squaws (11-11) a win on the road.

Jessica Welker assisted the goal. Michelle Herzog made seven saves for the shutout.

SOFTBALL Advance 3, Scott City 1

Advance scored two runs in the sixth to seal a road victory.

Alicia Broshuis earned the pitching win, and Amber Wilson had two hits for Advance.

Emily Essner suffered the loss for Scott City (18-4).
