The Saxony Lutheran boys basketball team showed its improvement since the beginning of the season Wednesday night.
The Crusaders defeated Jefferson, a team they lost to by four points in overtime in their first game of the season, 59-36 on their home court.
"It was a nice little piece of revenge," said first-year Saxony Lutheran coach Tim Winker.
The Crusaders held Jefferson to single digits in the first half and led 28-9 at the break.
"We played an excellent first half. That's one the of the best halves we've played this season," said Winkler, who pointed out his team's improved offensive execution.
Winker said his team shot 28 percent from the floor in the teams' previous meeting while missing an abundance of easy shots.
"The biggest difference was we made the shots tonight," Winkler said.
Saxony Lutheran shot 43 percent from the floor Wednesday and was led in scoring by Jack Lake's 17 points. Brandon Fritsche had 15 points and Gabe Bohnert added 14.
The Crusaders improved to 4-11 with the victory.
