INA, Ill. -- Former Scott City basketball standout, Tara Sanford, continues to make her mark at Rend Lake College.

After earning all-conference honors in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference last month, Sanford was recently named most valuable player of the Lady Warriors' basketball team in a vote of her peers.

In just her freshman season at Rend Lake, Sanford led the 16-15 Lady Warriors with a 14.4 scoring average. Her season-high scoring output was 27 points, which she accomplished twice.

A 5-foot-5 point guard, Sanford also averaged four rebounds and 3.3 assists a game. Sanford shot 40 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free-throw line.
