BROSELEY — The Twin Rivers Royals used a fast start to quickly take control of Tuesday’s baseball game against New Madrid County Central on their way to a 6-1 win over the Eagles at Royals Field.
Twin Rivers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, all with two out, to get the early lead as Price Thurman, Logan Jones and winning pitcher Luke Hester all drew walks to load the bases. Jake Hester singled home Thurman for the game’s first run, then Bo Lilly doubled to left to score Jones and Luke Hester to cap the rally.
The Royals (12-11) made it 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning when Luke Hester singled and later scored on an error, then added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as Drew Solomon’s base hit was misplayed, allowing Jones and Price Thurman to come around and make it 6-0.
NMCC (6-16) got its only run in the top of the sixth inning when B.J. Waters scored on Clay Cope’s sacrifice flyball.
Lilly, Warren Thurman and Jake Hester each had two hits for Twin Rivers.
Luke Hester tossed 6 1/3 innings of five-hit, one-run ball, striking out five and walking two in the win. Brett Robards got the final two outs.
Ayden McCanless had two hits for the Eagles in the loss.
The Royals are slated to head to Kelly Thursday, while NMCC is scheduled to play at South Pemiscot Friday.
