FARMINGTON — Kennett High School soccer team captain senior Lucas Randle nailed a header into the goal which gave the Indians an historic win, 2-1, over host St. Paul Lutheran.

Kennett was down 1-0, before rallying for its first victory in 14 years.

The Indians posted 22 shots on goal.

Goalie Jaxon Patterson stopped 15 of St. Paul’s 19 shots, with others sailing high or wide. Hayden Watson tallied Kennett’s first goal, which equalized the score at 1-all.

Kennett will play a JV-level match at Cape Notre Dame Regional on Thursday, Sept. 7. First kick is set for 5 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY

Fowler takes 2nd

POPLAR BLUFF — The Campbell High School cross country program is proving to be a quick study in the sport.

Six Camels finished among the top-11 at the Barry Cody Bootheel Classic on Thursday at Ozark Ridge Golf Course.

Drew Fowler and Samuel Bunting were second and third, respectively, with times of 20:20.42 and 20:29.95.

Other top finishers were Logan Townsend (seventh), Clay Huber (ninth), Ben Rowland (10th) and Kennan Siebert (11th). Wyatt Janson, James Olinger, Jackson Foster, Adon Lawless, Zander Hanners and Landen Wilson also completed the 5,000-meter course.

Campbell tied Poplar Bluff as co-meet champions.

Rita-Joy Wheeler raced in with a 12th-place finish in the girls race.
