FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson said Monday he doesn't intend to go to the Razorbacks' Nov. 28 game against Missouri -- when one of his former assistants returns to Fayetteville as the Tigers' coach.

"Not at this point," Richardson said. "There's nothing for me there at the University of Arkansas."

Mike Anderson, a former assistant of Richardson's at Arkansas, is now the coach at Missouri. He and Richardson have remained close, and Richardson has seen Anderson's team play in Missouri.

Richardson led Arkansas to the national championship in 1994. He was fired in 2002, but he didn't turn his back on northwest Arkansas. He remained in the Fayetteville area.

"I don't have anything against the town of Fayetteville," he said. "This has been home for me."

Richardson publicly supported Stan Heath, his successor, and he has also been in touch with new Razorbacks coach John Pelphrey recently. Arkansas enters the season ranked No. 19.

"I support the university's basketball team," he said. "I didn't spend 17 years up there for nothing."

Richardson has been involved in international basketball lately. He coached Mexico at the FIBA Americas tournament this year.
