The Southeast Missouri State soccer team's early season scoring problems continued into its OVC opener Friday night, as Murray State handed the Redhawks a 1-0 loss at Houck Stadium.

The shutout was the fifth of the season for the Redhawks, who had scored their first goal of the season in their previous game — a 1-1 tie against Evansville.

Katie Wilson scored the game's lone goal when she put a 25-yard shot over the head of Southeast goalkeeper Jessica Beckham at the 20:12 mark. Rachel Wright assisted on the play.

Murray State outshot the Redhawks 10-5. Racers goalkeeper Tara Isbell made four saves, while Beckham stopped six shots.

Southeast spikers sweep

The Southeast volleyball team improved to 3-1 in OVC play Friday with a three-game sweep at Jacksonville State.

The Redhawks won 26-24, 25-16, 25-15.

Karleigh DeLong paced Southeast's attack with eight kills. Molly Davis and Claire Keaton led the defensive effort with 14 digs apiece.

Southeast evened its record at 5-5 overall, while Jacksonville fell to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Booker signs in Greece

Former Southeast men's basketball player Roy Booker has signed to play professional ball with Etha Engomis of Greece in the top league of European basketball.

Booker, who led the Netherlands in scoring last season with 23.7 points game, played in Holland last season.
