The Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team suffered its third consecutive loss with its 87-55 defeat at Arkansas-Little Rock on Monday.

The Redhawks fell behind 46-17 at halftime. They led twice -- once after Jasmine Davis canned a pair of free throws in the opening minute then when Bianca Beck hit a 3-pointer to give Southeast a 5-4 lead with 18 minutes, 40 seconds left in the first half.

Arkansas-Little Rock quickly erased the deficit and led by as many as 31 points in the first half. Southeast shot 22 percent (5 of 23) from the floor while committing 14 turnovers in the opening half. Arkansas-Little Rock countered by shooting a sizzling 71 percent (20 of 28) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. The Trojans had 15 assists in the first half.

Monica Miller, who only had scored four points all season, heated up for the Redhawks in the second half as she scored 14 points, which included going 4 of 4 from the floor. But the Trojans pushed the lead to 39 points with about four minutes to play.

Davis led the Redhawks with 15 points, while Miller finished with 14. Southeast did manage to outrebound the Trojans 35-32, but Arkansas-Little Rock recorded 12 steals to two for Southeast.

The Redhawks (3-8) return to action Saturday when they host Tennessee Tech at 5:30 p.m.

Smith honored

Marland Smith, a guard on the Southeast men's team, was named the Ohio Valley Conference freshman of the week Monday.

Smith scored 15 points against Memphis in the Redhawks' 87-57 loss. He also grabbed six rebounds and added two assists in the contest.
