Southeast Missouri State won seven events Friday night as it hosted the Broadway Prescription Invitational track and field meet at the Student Recreation Center. No team scores were kept.

The highlight was sophomore Brandon Colbert reaching the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the shot put with a distance of 58 feet 4 1/2 inches.

Other men's winners for Southeast were Jamie Lee in the mile (4:24.1) and Danny Stults in the 800-meters (1:59.9).

Colbert also placed third in the weight throw (59-6 1/4).

Finishing second were Ryan Doty in the high jump (6-0) and Chris Herren in the 3,000 (9:03.5).

On the women's side, Southeast winners were Juli Koenegstein in the mile (5:04.3), Precious Elliott in the 55 (7.24), Orie Ibie in the 55 hurdles (8.32) and Kelly Good in the 800 (2:25.6).

Placing second were Jackson freshman Rachel Kahle in the 55 (7.26) and Danielle Henry in the 800 (2:26.8).

Southeast will return to action next weekend at the Ohio Valley Conference indoor meet.

Softball splits games

The Southeast softball team was no-hit by Morehead State 2-0, then routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 11-2 Friday at the Blues City Classic in Southaven, Miss.

Morehead State's Kari Quinn fired her second no-hitter of the season. She struck out eight and walked two.

Southeast losing pitcher Elaine Fisher allowed just four hits.

The Redhawks (4-3) had 12 hits against UAPB, led by Megan McDonald with three, including a home run. She had three RBIs.

Michelle Summers, Stacia Dopudja, Jennifer Vasquez and Carmen Fowler all added two hits. Summers delivered three RBIs.

Whitney Dupuis pitched three innings for the win, allowing three hits and two unearned runs. Leigh Leonard hurled two hitless frames.

Southeast continues play in the six-team event today, facing host Memphis at noon and Evansville at 2:15 p.m.
