Redhawks' Uchtman honored again by OVC

Southeast Missouri State junior Josh Uchtman has been named Ohio Valley Conference male field athlete of week for indoor track and field, his second such award in three weeks.

Uchtman captured Southeast's lone individual title at this past weekend's Indiana Relays, winning the shot put with a throw of 58 feet, 4 3/4 inches to tie his career best set two weeks ago.

Uchtman's throw surpassed the NCAA provisional qualifying mark, ranks third on the school's all-time list and is the best in the OVC this season.

Signing day party

The Southeast football program will unveil the bulk of its 2010 recruiting class during its annual signing day party at 5:30 p.m. today at Port Cape.

Coach Tony Samuel will speak and show highlights of Southeast's new recruits. The rest of the Southeast coaching staff will also be on hand.

Today marks the beginning of the signing period for college football teams.
